Travel: Know rules to visit Lakshadweep!

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lakshadweep last week, this smallest union territory of India has been in the headlines and is also trending on Google search. PM Modi described the peaceful environment of Lakshadweep as an attraction and praised it a lot. He shared his experience by posting some amazing photos of Lakshadweep on microblogging site X.

While sharing the photo, PM Modi wrote, "For those who want to embrace the adventurer within them, Lakshadweep should also be included in their travel list. During my trip, I also did snorkeling. It was a wonderful and thrilling experience." It was an experience." After the pictures and experiences shared by PM Modi, you too must be feeling like visiting Lakshadweep once. But, do you know that Indians also need an entry permit to visit Lakshadweep?

Know what are the rules?

According to the rules, every person (who is not a native of Lakshadweep) will have to obtain a permit. According to the Lakshadweep tourism website, the reason for this is to protect the Scheduled Tribes living there.

how to apply?

To apply online, you have to go to the e-permit portal ( https://epermit.utl.gov.in/pages/signup ), create an account there and fill the form with the required details. After this process, you can expect to receive the permit via e-mail 15 days before the trip. While applying offline, you will have to download the application form from the Lakshadweep Administration website or collect it from the District Collector's office in Kavaratti. After this, the application form will have to be submitted to the collector office. This process is longer and may take more of your time.

necessary documents

image

  • A passport size photograph
  • A photocopy of valid ID proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving License etc.)
  • Proof of travel (flight ticket or boat reservation details)
  • Booking confirmation from place of accommodation

fee details

The application fee is Rs 50 per applicant, and the heritage fee is Rs 100 for children aged 12 to 18 years. Inheritance fee for persons above 18 years of age is Rs 200.

Who is exempt from permit?

In accordance with the Lakshadweep, Minicoy and Amini Islands (Restrictions on Entry and Residence) Rules, 1967, every person (not being a native of these Islands) must obtain a permit in the prescribed form from the competent authority to enter and reside in these Islands. Will have to take. Only the family members of government officials and members of the armed forces who are working or visiting these islands are exempted from this.

J&K Assembly Opens Not for Political Leaders, But for a TV Shoot

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has allowed television shoot of a Hindi-language series of Maharani inside the closed assembly complex. The development came amidst persistent demand by political parties of the Union territory to conduct elections and begin assembly proceedings, and has thus led leaders to protest.

Officials confirmed to The Telegraph that the Maharani crew began shooting the Huma Qureshi starrer back in October last year but it has come to public knowledge only recently, leading leaders to hit out at Sinha’s administration. Maharani is inspired by real life political events in Bihar of the 1990s. Qureshi plays the chief minister of the state.

National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that the administration’s decision to allow TV shoot in the assembly premises, even when political leaders are kept out of the building, is an “absolute shame”. He posted pictures of the TV shoot on social media to say that this was “the true face of the mother of democracy”, where elected representatives were denied entry but not commercial enterprises.

“The true face of ‘the mother of democracy’, where once elected representatives of the people from all parties, religions, backgrounds & parts of J&K legislated on matters of great importance now actors & extras use it as a set for TV dramas,” the former chief minister posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

“What a shame that the BJP driven government in J&K has reduced the symbol of democracy, where they once sat & governed, to this sorry state of affairs. They (Maharani’s makers) even have a fake CM coming out of an office I was privileged to occupy for 6 years. What an absolute shame!!!!”

The J&K Assembly has not functioned since former governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the House on December 20, 2018, six months after BJP withdrew its support to the Mehbooba Mufti government. A controversy erupted when Mehbooba claimed tha National Conference, but she alleged that all her f
